Thrissur: Three members of a family were found dead in their house at Ashtamichira, near Mala, on Monday. The police suspect that Muraleedharan, 50, killed his wife Vijaya, 42, and their only son Arun,16, and committed suicide. While bodies of Vijaya and Arun, with knife injuries to the head, were found in separate rooms, Muraleedharan’s charred body was found in the kitchen near a burst gas cylinder.

Hailing from Kodungallur, Muraleedharan, an employee of Apollo Tyres, Perambra, shifted to Ashtamichira about two years ago. Vijaya was a private school teacher and Arun, a Plus One student in St. Antony’s Higher Secondary School. According to the police, the family had cordial relations with neighbours and Arun was a brilliant student, who used to excel in extracurricular activities too.

Though the reason for the murders was not clear, police suspect that Muraleedharan was suffering from mild mental disorder. After post-mortem examination, the bodies were handed over to relatives.
