Three people were killed after a lorry collided with an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler on NH 47 at Pathirapally within Alappuzha Traffic Police Station limits on Friday.

The police identified the deceased as Usha, (46), wife of Krishnakumar in Nandanam House in ward 14 of Mannancherry grama panchayat, autorickshaw driver Najeem, (32) of Chirayil Veedu in ward 18 in Mannancherry and the lorry driver Venugopalan Nair (45) of Cheranelloor, Ernakulam. The injured were Krishnakripa, (13), daughter of Usha and Mohanan, (59) in ward 21 of Mannancherry grama panchayat. The bodies of the deceased were moved to the morgue of Alappuzha general Hospital for completing legal and medical examinations. The accident took place around 3.45 p.m. The lorry was going to Kollam from Ernakulam with footwears. Usha was riding her two-wheeler to her house and her daughter was riding pillion on it. The autorickshaw was also moving towards Cherthala. The reason for the accident is suspected to the puncture of the tyre of the lorry which led to the lorry driver losing his control over the vehicle. The lorry hit the autorickshaw and two-wheeler. Usha, who fell down under the lorry died on the spot. The lorry came to a halt after smashing against the wall of the Kerala State Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited.
