The Kollam East police arrested three men on Wednesday on the charge of theft. The suspects were identified as Nigel Basil, 28; Niyaz Kamal, 37; and Subi Mohammed, 24.

Sub inspector G. Gopakumar, who arrested them, said the three were involved in autorickshaw thefts and lifting of goats from several houses. They allegedly target houses where goats are reared, go there by night in stolen autorickshaws, and steal the animals. The goats are then sold to butchers. They were arrested on the basis of a tip-off received by the Assistant Commissioner of Police B. Krishna Kumar. Mr. Gopakumar said that a stolen autorickshaw and some goats were seized from the arrested persons.
