Thiruvananthapuram: The city police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Nazar alias "Wal" Nazar at Karimadam colony last month.
The accused were identified as Nazeer (23), Syed Ali (32) and Shaji (39). They were produced before the court on the charge of murder and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
Nazar, a wanted man, was fatally injured in a fight that occurred in the colony on September 11. He succumbed to his injuries at the Medical College Hospital on October 3.
Two found dead
A 33-year-old man and his three-year-old daughter were found dead by neighbours in their house at Pavackal in Vithura police station limits. Murali, a rubber tapper, was found dead hanging. His younger daughter, Ashwini, was found strangled to death in an adjacent room. Murali's elder daughter, Aswathy (7), was found in an unconscious state with a deep cut on her neck. Local people rushed her to the Medical College Hospital.
The Rural police suspect Murali to have committed suicide after killing his youngest child and grievously injuring his elder one. The Vithura police have registered a case of unnatural death.
A 61-year-old convict housed at the Central Prison in Poojappura died at the Medical College Hospital here on Monday morning. The police identified the deceased as Bhargavan (61). He was serving time at the prison since 2005 after he was convicted on the charge of violating the Abkari Act. According to the police, the prison authorities admitted Bhargavan to the MCH around 7.30 a.m. after he showed signs of illness. The prisoner died at the hospital around 9.30 a.m.
A 21-year-old youth was reported missing in the Murukumpuzha lagoon on Monday afternoon.
The police identified the missing person as Biju, a local resident. According to the police, Biju was carried away by a strong current.
