Thousands thronged Thirunakkara in the heart of the town to take part in the Pakalpooram that was celebrated as part of the festival at the Thirunakkara  Mahadevar temple on the ‘Pallivetta day’ on Sunday. The day began with the arrival of ‘cherupoorams’ from the eleven temples linked to the Sreemahadevar temple. By noon, the town turned into a festival ground with caparisoned elephants and teams engaged in melams. Actor Jayaram declared open the event.

The ensemble by Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar and Peruvanam Kuttan Marar enthralled the participants.

The pooram concluded with a pyrotechnic display. The Aarattu celebration of the temple festival has been scheduled for Monday.
