Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday termed unfortunate the statements of Congress MP P.T. Thomas against Kerala Congress (M) [KC(M)] leader and Finance Minister K.M. Mani in reference to the latter’s alleged talks with leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] on ties with the Left Democratic Front.

At a press conference here, Mr. Chandy said Mr. Thomas’s views were not that of the Congress party. Mr. Mani and the KC(M) were an indivisible part of the United Democratic Front (UDF). The coalition had always drawn its strength from the unstinted support and cooperation of the KC(M). Its continued participation and leadership would further strengthen the UDF, he said.
