The Thiyya Mahasabha has protested against the use of their community name by the Sree Narayana Guru Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) in the Ezhava-Thiyya Malabar Maha Sangamam scheduled to be held on February 2.

In a press release, the Thiyya Mahasabha said they came to know of the programme only through flex boards displayed by the SNDP in the city.

Court moved

The release said the notices of the maha sangamam, to be held on Kozhikode Beach, did not mention the participation of the Thiyya Mahasabha nor have the names of any of the prominent members of the Thiyya communities.

The Mahasabha said they had already moved the local court in this matter.
