The Hindu-Young World quiz on October 31

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ninth edition of The Hindu-Young World Quiz — the annual, high-adrenalin, battle of brains — will be held at the Tagore Centenary Hall, Thiruvananthapuram on October 31.

The quiz — presented by and managed by Quizwallahs — will begin at 10 a.m. with a preliminary round at the end of which six teams will be selected for the regional finals which will be held on the same day.

Any two students (in classes VI to IX) can form a team. A school can send a maximum of three teams.

The teams should report at the venue before 9.15 a.m. on the day of the competition.

Schools can register for the event using the entry cards provided by The Hindu.

The filled-in entry cards should be sent to The Regional General Manager, The Hindu, T.C. 36/1946(1), Airport Road, Vallakkadavu, Thiruvananthapuram-695 008 on or before October 24.

Entry cards

After registration, the top portion of the entry cards will be sent to the schools.

The teams should compulsorily carry this entry cards in original on October 31.

Regional finals

The regional finals will begin at 11.30 a.m. and the prize distribution will be done at 1 p.m. State Bank of Travancore (SBT) Managing Director A.K. Jagannathan will be the chief guest at the prize distribution function.

In addition to Thiruvananthapuram, the quiz will be held in Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangalore, Chennai, Puducherry, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

The All-India finals would be held at Vishakhapatnam on November 13, 2008. The associate sponsors of the event are DC Books Mango, Cheetos and Kissan Amaze.

National sponsors

The national sponsors are the State Bank of Travancore, Penguin, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Reynolds, Firefox Bikes, Lotte Caramilk and Cycle Agarbathis.
