T he Hindu will present a bouquet of programmes in the State capital to mark International Women’s Day on March 8.
The programmes, being sponsored by Allianz in association with the State Bank of Travancore (SBT), Indiavision, NIMS Medicity and 92.7 BIG FM, include a panel discussion on the theme, ‘From Victim to Victor: How Far, How Soon?’ to be attended by, among others, Social Welfare Minister M.K. Muneer.
A free medical camp will be held A four-day exhibition of photographs and news items on the theme ‘Women in News’, with particular reference to Kerala, from the archives of The Hindu will be a highlight.
There will be an IT/ITeS Job Fair organised by Allianz.
The programmes, including the panel discussion, will be held at different halls of the Press Club, beside the Central Stadium.
Panellists in the discussion, being held under the umbrella theme ‘Women Rising’, include Additional Director General of Police B. Sandhya, Editor of The Hindu Siddharth Varadarajan, Chief Post Master General Shobha Koshy, actor Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, academic J. Devika, and filmmaker T.V. Chandran, among others.
The panel discussion will be telecast by Indiavision.
The Technopark-based Allianz will conduct the preliminary screening of its IT/ITeS Job Fair at the Press Club; the final interview will be at Technopark later.
The NIMS Medicity-supported medical camp will feature the services of a physician, cardiologist, dental surgeon and refractionist.
A check-up for diabetes, hypertension and Body Mass Index will also be on offer. — Special Correspondent
