KANNUR: The Kerala State Textile Workers Federation (KSTWF) has demanded that the wage of textile mill workers be hiked in proportion to the increase in the salary of textile mill employees ranging from supervisors to the chief executive.

K. Surendran, president of the federation affiliated to the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), stated here that it had been nine years since the wage revision agreement in the five textile mills under the Kerala State Textile Corporation expired. Since then the workers had got an interim relief of just Rs.400. At the same time, the pay-scale of officialshad recorded substantial increase, between Rs.10,000 to Rs.20,000, during the period, he pointed out.
