Minister for Agriculture and Printing K.P. Mohanan has said that measures would be adopted to ensure that academic textbooks were printed at government press facilities. The efforts of the government were aimed at printing as many textbooks as possible by the year 2015 at these units, he added.

He was speaking during a visit to the Government Press at Vazhoor to commission a four-colour web offset printing machine on Friday.

Mr. Mohanan said the delay in modernising facilities and the inability to ensure time-bound completion of activities have affected the government press. An amount of Rs. 5 crore had been allocated for upgrading press facilities. He said a museum would soon be established to highlight the various milestones of the printing industry on the occasion of the 175th anniversary celebrations of the government press.
