The ongoing strike by a section of the staff nurses of the Specialty Hospital here took a confrontational turn on Thursday when students' and youths' organisations marched to the hospital to express solidarity with the striking nurses and the police stopped them from entering the hospital premises.

The strike by the nurses demanding reinstallation of four nurses who had been dismissed from service continued on the fifth day on Thursday. The striking nurses were protesting outside the hospital premises. The hospital had on March 7 witnessed tension when the striking nurses entered the premises and the police used force to remove them. The situation was no different on Thursday as police personnel deployed at the hospital stopped protesting activists of the youths' and students' organisations who reached the spot to express their solidarity with the striking nurses.
