The National Technology Day, commemorating Pokhran-II in 1998, was observed at the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Thrikkakara with a set of lectures on Wednesday.

NPOL scientist Jomon George delivered a lecture on ‘Techniques for futuristic sonar'. S. Asokan, Professor, Department of Instrumentation at the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore, delivered a lecture on ‘Fibre bragg grating sensors and applications'. A. Dhurkadas, Associate Director (Airborne System), NPOL, presented the DRDO Technology Day Oration Medal to Jomon George.

In a separate programme, the local chapters of the Computer Society of India, the Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) organised a technical talk by Cusat Assistant Professor G. Santhosh Kumar on ‘The World of Sensor Networks' at the CSI Hall.
