To identify land for satellite town

KOZHIKODE: A two-member official team from Malaysia will visit the city on Saturday to identify land to set up a satellite town here.

The 308 acres of land identified by the Government in the Kinalur industrial estate, near Balussery, is in the possession of the Kerala State Industrial Development Corpo- ration (KSIDC).

M.P. Vinyl, manager, KSIDC, Kochi, will escort Manjit Singh and Abdul Rehman Koya.

The team members will be taken to Malappuram to inspect land at Panakkad for a similar purpose.

The Kinalur industrial estate and the proposed satellite town could house industrial as well as health care enterprises.

Sources at the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) said the Malaysian team visited Palakkad on Friday to identify land there.

Minister for Industries Elamaram Karim told mediapersons here on Thursday that the Malaysian team was interested in setting up a satellite township here.

Mr. Karim said industrial, commerc- ial, IT and biotechnology enterprises, besides medical college were also being considered.
