The bank now has 1,241 ATMs

Syndicate Bank will open 500 new ATMs in the country during this financial year.

Announcing this here on Thursday, Syndicate Bank Executive Director M. Anjaneya Prasad said at present the bank had 1,241 ATMs across the country. He also said the number of bank’s branches would also be increased to 3,000 by March 2013. He also said the gross profit of the bank rose from Rs.666 crore to Rs.904 crore as of now, recording a growth rate of 35.71 per cent.

Mr. Prasad also said the bank had disbursed a total of Rs.2,425 crore as education loans across the country. The education loan amount, disbursed by the bank in its Kannur region alone, stood at Rs.117 crore, he added.

The bank had also posted growth in advances in agricultural, small scale and housing sectors, he said. An e-branch system, experimentally introduced by the bank in Bangalore, would allow account holders to do transactions without physically going to their branches, he added.

Mr. Prasad said the bank was committed to assisting its customers including farmers. The bank initiated steps, including rescheduling of loan repayment schedule to help farmers who were in difficult situation as a result of crop loss.
