Cinemas across the State will remain closed on January 24. The Malayalam film industry is observing the day as `Rights protection day.'

The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce, which is spearheading the protest, has urged the Government to go ahead with its anti-piracy drive.

The Malayalam film industry has extended full support to Rishi Raj Singh, nodal officer of the anti-piracy cell. Filmmakers have also come out against traders supporting video libraries and shops selling pirated CDs.

They say collections have gone up after the anti-piracy cell stepped up its drive against the illegal sale and distribution of pirated CDs.
