The State Human Rights Commission has registered a suo motu case in connection with the recent police attack on Indiavision channel's newspersons here.

Commission member K.E. Gangadharan came here on Monday and took the statements of Fouzia Musthaffa, the channel's district correspondent, its cameramen Subith, and the driver of their car, Salam.

The police are accused of manhandling the woman reporter and of making comments with sexual overtones. The cameraman and the driver were allegedly beaten up as they were returning to the city after taking news footage on the basis of reports that Armed Rifle personnel were “misusing” official vehicles for dropping off their children at school. Mr. Gangadharan later visited Uliyathadkka, where the incident occurred on November 25.
