One cannot blame them for winning all the trophies. Blame it on the new guidelines.

Smart school students are walking away with prizes in the Keralotsavam competitions ever since the State Government modified the minimum age to participate in the events to 13 from this year.

Keralotsavam was originally conceived to promote arts and sports among the youth in the age group between 15 and 35 who did not have an opportunity to demonstrate their talents. But now school students after getting professional training for youth festivals are cornering all the prizes.

A majority of the prizes, especially in performing arts, have gone in favour of students.

College students are also not far behind in securing the trophies.

Ongoing festivals at grama panchayats in Kozhikode district, however, are getting good response.

But the local clubs and young organisations are unhappy with school and college students stealing the show.
