KOCHI: B.Tech. students of Mahatma Gandhi University urged the university authorities to stagger the final semester examination schedule.

The examinations, beginning on June 23, will be completed in a week's time, thus leaving the students no breathing space.

A group of B.Tech. students from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology, Angamaly, said six examinations were scheduled to be held within seven days, which was quite unusual.

In the past, these examinations were held in a staggered timeframe of 20 or 25 days. Moreover, this year the practical examination and the viva voce, which in the past were held after the theory examinations, were also being advanced, the students said.

Some students had approached the High Court seeking staggering of the examinations, but the court had left it to the university authorities to take an appropriate decision on the schedule.

The students said the present scheduled would hit their performance in the examination and would thus affect their career prospects and higher education.
