Nearly 1,000 student police cadets will help the police regulate traffic at 18 key points in the city on Friday. City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan said the 400 girls and 600 boys will issue ‘yellow cards’ to traffic violators.

They will advise pedestrians to walk on their right-hand side of the road and use zebra lines and foot paths.

Each cadet will advise at least 10 traffic offenders on traffic norms. State Police Chief K.S. Balasubramanian will inaugurate the programme in front of the Kanakakunnu palace at 10.30 a.m. The student cadets will be deployed for traffic duty at 9.30 a.m. and withdrawn at 1 p.m. — Staff Reporter
