Collector Rathan Kelkar on Saturday warned that action would be taken against those indulging in violence in the district.

He was speaking at an all-party meeting held at the Collector’s chamber here on Saturday.

Mr. Kelkar said the police had been instructed to initiate action against those indulging in violence and violating law and order in the district.

K.K. Narayanan, MLA, said stern action should be taken against those committing violence under the guise of political parties. Action should be taken against those violating traffic rules.

Incidents of murder and burglary were on the rise in the district, opined C.Krishnan, MLA.

Pointing out violent incidents during the cooperative body elections, he demanded immediate police action during such instances.

Of the eight murder cases reported in the district, investigation had been completed in seven. Probe was progressing in the case of murder of a security guard at Thalassery, District Police Chief Rahul R. Nair said.

A special team had been appointed to investigate a case of two youth who had been reported missing.

Representatives of most political parties were present.
