The police recovered seven steels bombs, eight kilograms of gun powder, and other materials used for making bombs from a hilly spot near the Koyambram bridge at Chekkiyad at Nadapuram in the district on Wednesday.

The bombs were recovered during a raid in the region. The materials, including 34 steel containers, three pesticide cans, jute twines, adhesive used for plumbing, ice-cream bottles, and cotton, were recovered from an uninhabited compound belonging to one Puthussery Rajiv, the police said.

A team of police personnel attached to Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Dog Squad, Malabar Special Police, carried out the raids in the morning.

Vadakara Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Gupta and Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Pradeepkumar supervised.

Fingerprint experts collected samples from the spot. The police believe that some political group could have been active in the region in the past couple of days for making bombs ahead of the counting of votes on Friday.
