The Nadapuram police recovered three steel bombs from the veranda of a coconut dryer unit functioning on the premises of a madrassa at Kiriangandi at Kadameri in the district on Wednesday.

Students from the nearby M.U.P. School, who were playing on the premises, noticed the steel bombs first. They alerted their teachers, who informed the police. A team led by Sub Inspector M. Sudhakaran, attached to the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, shifted the bombs to the Nadapuram police station and defused them later.

A case was registered in connection with the incident. The bombs could have been abandoned following police raids in the region. Last week, the police had recovered 14 pipe-bombs from a canal at Nadapuram.
