Health officials of Kerala and Tamil Nadu will jointly operate a medical camp at Kumily during the pilgrimage season of Sabarimala.

An official of the District Medical Office said that in an emergency situation, officials of both States would hold joint operations in the border towns. Awareness campaigns on public hygiene and against consumption of tobacco items will be launched and pamphlets in Tamil and Malayalam distributed.

The official said a meeting of the top officials of the Health Departments of both States held at Munnar discussed the steps to be taken for the welfare of the pilgrims and the campaigns for checking supply of outdated and substandard food materials in eateries during the season.
