THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government would explore the possibilities of enacting a law to control the indiscriminate use of pesticides and to promote agriculture that eschew the use of pesticides, Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Rathnakaran told the Assmebly on Thursday.

To a submission by V.S. Sunil Kumar (CPI), the Minister said the government was aware of indiscriminate use of pesticides. Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran told V. Sivan Kutty (CPI-M) that the government would soon notify the draft fair value of land. Forests Minister Benoy Viswom told V.D. Satheesan (Congress) that the allegation of irregularities in the Tiger Census in Ernakulam and Idukki was baseless and that the final picture would be announced by the Wildlife Institute of India.
