Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh, on Thursday, assured MPs from the Left Democratic Front in Kerala that a representative from the State would be included in the central committee appointed by his Ministry to study the environmental problems created by Endosulfan.

He gave this assurance after meeting the MPs who staged a protest near the Gandhi statue in Parliament House seeking Centre's action on the Endosulfan issue.

The MPs, who were led, among others, by CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury and CPI national secretary D. Raja, said over 300 people had lost their lives from the effects of Endosulfan and 4,000 people were affected in other ways. Mr. Ramesh said action would be taken on the issue after getting the committee's report.
