People from all walks of life pay their last respects to the playwright

KOZHIKODE: The State bid a tearful farewell to playwright K.T. Mohammed here on Wednesday.

A large crowd gathered at the Town Hall where the body of K.T., who died on Tuesday at the age of 79, was kept for public viewing. People from all walks of life came to pay their last respects to the dramatist, who was a towering figure in the cultural sphere of Malabar for the last several decades.

Industries Minister Elamaram Karim; MPs Sebastian Paul, M.P. Veerendra Kumar and P. Satheedevi; MLAs A. Pradeep Kumar, P.M.A. Salam, A.K. Saseendran, and M.V. Sreyams Kumar; Mayor M. Bhaskaran; District Collector A. Jayathilak; writers M.T. Vasudevan Nair, U.A. Khader, P. Valsala, V.R. Sudheesh, K.P. Ramanunni, U.K. Kumaran, P.R. Nathan, Ibrahim Vengara, Pradeep Kumar Kavunthara, T.A. Razak, K.P. Sudheera and B.M. Suhara; critic M.M. Basheeer; directors Hariharan, K.R. Mohanan and V.M. Vinu; playback singers V.T. Murali and Machat Vasanthi; actors V.K. Sreeraman Zeenath and Nilambur Ayisha; were among those who paid respects.

Later, K.T. was laid to rest with State honours.
