The Department of Posts will organise the Stamp Design Contest 2012 at Samskrithi Bhavan in the city on November 22.

The contest is being organised since 1998. The theme of this year’s painting competition for all groups of participants is ‘A holiday.’ Students will take part in three categories. Students up to class IV will be in group one, those in classes V to VIII in group two, and those in classes IX to XII in group three.

There will be three prizes each in all the categories. The prize-winning designs in each category will be considered for use on stamps and other India Post materials, a press note issued by the department said here on Thursday.

The first prize in the first second, and third categories carry a purse of Rs.30,000, second prize Rs.18,000, and third Rs.12,000 respectively. The best entry (winners of first prize) in each category will be forwarded to be considered for national-level prizes. The design could be in ink, water colour, oil colour, or any other medium.
