The Kerala State Sunni Students Federation (SSF) began its 20th district literary festival here on Wednesday.

Minister for Education P.K. Abdu Rabb will formally inaugurate the festival on Friday evening. District panchayat member Umer Arakkal inaugurated a book fair in connection with the five-day festival.

K.M.A. Rahim, economist and Sunni leader, inaugurated a gathering of the older generation which paved the foundation for the SSF in the State.

An exhibition of news photographs was also inaugurated on Thursday.

Islamic scholar E. Sulaiman Musliar inaugurated a spiritual conference on Thursday evening.

A cultural procession will be taken out on Friday afternoon. Malayalam University Vice Chancellor K. Jayakumar, P. Ubaidulla, MLA, municipal chairman K.P. Mustafa, municipal Opposition leader Paloli Kunhimohammed, and councillor Veekshanam Mohammed will address the inaugural session in the evening.

The literary and fine arts competitions will begin on Saturday. Minister for Urban Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali will inaugurate the valedictory session on Sunday afternoon.
