A satsang with founder of the Art of Living Foundation Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will be held at Asramam Maidan here on Wednesday evening.
Elaborate arrangements are being made to welcome the spiritual leader to the city. He will arrive by helicopter at the maidan from Alappuzha on that day.
Prior to the satsang, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will address an international seminar on ‘Environment friendly tourism.’ The seminar, organised by the Art of Living, in association with the Kollam Press Club, will be inaugurated by Mayor Prasanna Earnest. District collector P.G. Thomas, journalist Sunnykutty Abraham, and industrialist Joseph Dominic will speak.
Chairman of the AoL Kerala apex body V.R. Baburaj told presspersons that the satsang would begin soon after 5 p.m. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar would address the satsang from a dais created to resemble the entry point to the Anand Sagar complex at Shegaon in Maharashtra.
The 20,000 sq ft dais would have a length of 100 feet and a width of 200 feet. It would have a 500-metre ramp. Sri Sri Ravi Sankar would walk through the ramp to provide darshan to devotees. After a formal reception to him, a musical programme ‘Vadyavaibhavam’ will be held. Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash and SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan would take part in the programme.
At the function, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar would formally inaugurate the Jnaanakshethrams of the Art of Living at Kundara, Ezhukone, and Kottarakara. He will lay the foundation stone for the Jnaanakshethrams at Chathannur, Pattazhi, and Enath. He would also launch the State-level de-addiction programme of the Art of Living. On Thursday morning, he would address the media. He would leave for Thiruvananthapuram in a helicopter around noon. Art of Living district secretary S. Thilakan was present at the press meet.
