Value based education is the need of the hour, E. Sreedharan, Principal Adviser to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), has said.

In his inaugural address at a seminar on ‘Vision Kerala 2030’ organised by the MBA department of Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology in Kalady on Friday, Mr. Sreedharan said that teachers could be role models at school while parents could don that role at home. Pointing out that the secret of his success was punctuality, integrity, professional competency and social responsibility, Mr. Sreedharan said that these qualities were the four vital pillars on which people needed to build up their careers.

“Knowledge is power and it gives confidence and courage in one’s life,” he said recalling the rich tradition of India and the importance of learning Bhagavad Gita.

Stating that he was hopeful of completing the Kochi Metro project in three years, Mr. Sreedharan said that he was also confident of overcoming all the challenges and barriers in the implementation of the project.
