KOCHI: The Kerala Self-Financing Engineering College Managements Association has urged the Government to speed up the process of admitting students to the 50 per cent merit seats in various private engineering colleges in the State.

A general body meeting of the association held here on Wednesday requested the Government to conduct the counselling for admitting students to the merit seats at the earliest.

Association president G.P.C. Nayar said the private engineering college managements were ready to accept the K.T. Thomas Committee fee structure for students admitted to the merit seats.

He said the meeting also discussed the implications of the recent Supreme Court verdict on admissions to seats under various private professional colleges in the State. The association representatives would make efforts to create more awareness of the verdict among its members.
