Arrangement to clear rush of women devotees

Thiruvananthapuram: Southern Railway has made elaborate arrangements to clear the rush of commuters in connection with the `pongala' mahotsavam at Attukal Bhagavathy Temple that falls on March 3.

The special train would be operated on March 3 between Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram Central, according to the Southern Railway. The train will leave Kollam at 4 a.m. to reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 6 a.m.

The train will stop at all stations between Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram.

Additional stoppages have also been provided in some express train on March 2 and March 3. The 6350 Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Parasuram Express, 6345 Lokmanyathilak-Thiruvananthapuram Netravati Express and 7230 Hyderabad-Thiruvananthapuram Sabari Express will stop at Mayyanad, Paravur, Kappil, Varkala, Kadakkavur, Chirayinkeezhu, Murukkumpuzha, Kazhakuttam and Kochuveli stations on March 2.

On March 3, the 6344 Palakkad Town-Thiruvananthapuram Amritha Express would stop at Mayyanad, Paravur, Kappil, Varkala, Kadakkavur, Chirayinkeezh, Murukkumpuzha, Kazhakuttam and Kochuveli stations.

The 6342 Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam Intercity Express, 6304 Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam Vanchinad Express and 6329 Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Malabar Express would stop at all the stations between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam on March 3.

Additional coaches would be attached in four pairs of passenger trains and two express trains between March 1 and March 3 to clear the rush. The passenger trains to be augmented with additional coaches are 0371/0372 Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram Passenger, 0373/0374 Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram Passenger, 0375/0376 Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram Passenger and 0361/0366 Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam Passenger.

Additional coaches would be provided in the 6343 Thiruvananthapuram-Palakkad Amritha Express between March 1 and March 3 and 6329 Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Malabar Express on March 3.
