KOCHI: The Opposition Councillors of Kochi Corporation are planning to step up pressure on the civic administration following the Kerala High Court’s observations against the civic body.
A.B. Sabu, the parliamentary party leader of the UDF Councillors in the Corporation, has demanded that a special meeting of the Council should be convened to discuss the observation of the High Court that the Council will have to be dissolved.
The court’s criticism came following the delay in repair of roads and clearance of garbage from the city roads.
Mr. Sabu raised the demand for the special Council on Tuesday in a letter addressed to the Mayor.
The Corporation authorities have been adopting the tactics of delaying the statutory meetings whenever they come under criticism.
The administration also curtails the council proceedings abruptly when faced with criticisms, Mr. Sabu said.
