Sumathi, the mother of 23-year-old Soumya who was brutally raped and murdered while travelling on a train from Kochi to Shoranur on February 1, 2011, wants the government to give her justice by executing a court order of capital punishment given to Govindachamy, the lone accused.

Shoranur municipal chairman M.R. Murali who visited Soumya’s family at Kavalapara, near Shoranur, on the second death anniversary of Soumya on Friday said the family wanted the government to implement the Thrissur Fast Track Court order immediately.

On November 11 2011, the court had sentenced Govindachamy to death. Mr. Murali said the family expressed their dissatisfaction with the delay in implementing the court order.
