Parties have split and new ones have sprung up on the basis of emerging ideologies. But, they have not forgotten some of the tallest leaders of the past. There was overwhelming response to a meeting to observe the 42nd death anniversary of C.K. Govindan Nair, freedom fighter and former State president of the Congress party. The NCP held a meeting , which was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Rural Development Suryakanti Patil , while the Congress (S) got its president Kadanappaly Ramachandran to inaugurate its commemoration. V.M. Sudheeran was the main speaker at the tribute organised by the DCC.
