MALAPPURAM: The zonal conference of the Solidarity Youth Movement concluded with a rally at Kottakkal near here on Friday.
The rally taken out from AVS Square to Kottakkal bus-stand displayed floats portraying the controversy over the proposed special centre of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and the hurling of shoes at former U.S. President George W. Bush.
Children also took part in the rally protesting against Israeli killings in Palestine.
M.I. Abdul Azeez, assistant Amir of the Jamaat-e-Islami, inaugurated a public meeting.
Salim Mampad, Solidarity president, presided over the function. Laha Gopalan, Chengara agitation leader; Khalid Moosa Nadvi, State council member of the Solidarity; C.P. Mohammed Umeri, district president of the Jamaat-e-Islami, and S. Irshad, State secretary of the Students Islamic Organisation, addressed the meeting.
