A collection of paintings on socially relevant themes are on display at the art gallery of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi here.

The exhibition by artist V. Aneesh titled ‘The Frames of Scopophilia’ is dominated by themes such as ill-effects of consumerism, voyeurism and the marginalisation of communities.

An exhibition of a series of installations named ‘Hungry’ is also on.

“A painting becomes valuable when the observer can see it and perceive it in his own way,” according to the painter, who holds an M. Fine Arts (MFA) from Shanthinikethan, Kolkata in painting.

The poignancy of the paintings like the lone meditating Buddha or the gloomy Charlie Chaplin captures the viewers’ attention.

He has made the paintings using acrylic paints and charcoal.

He has conducted exhibitions in Kochi, Mumbai and Darjeeling. The exhibition will be on till 17.
