Kozhikode: Two double-decker tourist boats, built by the Beypore unit of the Steel Industrials Limited, Kerala (SILK) were flagged off by Industries Minister Elamaram Karim at Beypore here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Karim pulled up the officials working in public sector units for not being able to complete the projects undertaken by them on time. Referring to the construction of Olavanna-Kaduppini Bridge, connecting the Kozhikode Corporation to the Olavanna panchayath, Mr. Karim said the project was undertaken by SILK to be completed in last March. “But it is yet to be completed due to the lacklustre attitude of the officials,” said the Minister, who warned that “stern action would be taken against the officials and employees, who damage the image of the public sector undertakings by indefinitely delaying the projects.”

Mr. Karim said committed and concerted efforts by different sections, including officials and employees, was needed to build a positive image for the PSUs.
