PALAKKAD: The Ottapalam area committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), on Saturday, issued show-cause notices to three of its councillors of the Shoranur municipality for alleged anti-party activities.

On Friday, the party expelled the former DYFI leader and vice-chairman of Shoranur municipality M.R. Murali for anti-party activities and his refusal to quit the vice-chairmanship as ordered by the area committee.

He refused to resign from the post and called a press conference on Friday along with nine other councillors of the party supporting him. Show cause notices were served on three of the councillors.

Meanwhile, Mr. Murali called a convention of his supporters at Shoranur on Sunday.
