Show of literary talent winds up

The two-day literary fest ‘Lumina Literati-2013, In pursuit of the sublime,’ organised by the Postgraduate Department of English at NSS College, Pandalam, showcasing different talents of the students, came to a close on Monday.

The literary fiesta was a blend of programmes that included drama, literary exhibition, quiz, and Kathakali adaptation of William Shakespeare’s famous play ‘Othello.’

The Kathakali adaptation of ‘Othello’ was a major attraction at the fete. Renowned Kathakali artiste Fact Mohan gave life to ‘Othello’ and Madhu Varanasi played the role of ‘Desdemona.’

Macbeth too

Staging of another Shakespearean play ‘Macbeth’ by the English literature students of the college was another highlight.

Manoj Kuroor, poet and Associate Professor at NSS Hindu College, Changanassery, inaugurated the fete. Sudheer Kidangoor, college Principal, was the guest of honour, and L. Valsa, Head of the Department of English, presided over the function.

Unnikrishnan, Associate Professor; P. Harikrishna, University of Kerala Senate member; Anjana, and K.R. Ranjith Krishnan, coordinators of the programme, spoke.

Dr. Ayyappa Panicker Memorial Ever-rolling Trophy Inter-collegiate Quiz was another highlight of the literary fiesta. The literature students also staged Mahasweta Devi’s play ‘Bayen.’ Akhil Das and Megha Shreyas were the student directors of ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Bayen,’ respectively.
