KOLLAM: Union Minister for Home Affairs Shivraj Patil on Saturday will hand over the keys of 53 houses constructed by the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar for tsunami victims at Alapad in Kollam district and Arattupuzha in Alappuzha district. The 53 houses are from a lot of 75 houses allocated to the Mar Thoma Church by the State Government.

At a press conference here on Friday, K.M. Mammen, secretary of the Church, said Mar Thoma Metropolitan Joseph Mar Irenius Safragan will preside over the function. The houses are in Klapana grama panchayat in Kollam district and Kumarapuram grama panchayat in Alappuzha district.

All the houses have been constructed in association with the Church Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA). Revenue Minister K.M. Mani will be the chief guest at the inaugural function.

Minister for Water Resources Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan; CASA director Sushant Agarwal; Congress leader P.J. Kurien, MP; Kollam MP P. Rajendran; and Karunagapally MLA Rajan Babu will address the gathering.
