Over 40 persons were injured in three separate accidents in the district on Saturday.

Thirteen persons were injured when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus collided with a tanker lorry at the Keltron junction, at Karakulam around 7 a.m. The lorry, which transported drinking water, was going from Peroorkada towards Aruvikkara dam while the bus was on its way from Vithura towards Medical College.

Two persons — the driver of the KSRTC bus, Rajan, 53, of Vithura; and Leena, 37, of Nedumangad, had been admitted to the Medical College Hospital (MCH) with serious injuries.

The others are under observation at the casualty.

In another accident at Paruthikuzhy, near Muttathara, 29 persons were injured when a mini-lorry rammed a tempo van and then crashed into an autorickshaw. All the injured were rushed to MCH.

Two injured

Two persons were injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a parallel service van at Porunthamon, near Kilimanoor. They were admitted to a private medical college hospital at Venjaramoodu.
