: Writer Sukumar Azhikode said here on Wednesday that Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala and Kerala Congress (M) leader K.M. Mani should make way for the younger generation of politicians.

He told reporters here on Wednesday that politics and governance needed young blood.

“Mr. Achuthanandan should stay away from electoral politics. As an elderly statesman, he should play the role of a guide. Let his juniors

like Kodiyeri Balakrishnan be at the helm of affairs. Mr. Chandy and Mr. Chennithala should make way for second-rung leaders,” he said.

Asked to comment on the LDF rule in the State, he said the government could not tap the power of team work.

He said Manmohan Singh should step down for alleged lapses in the appointment of P.J. Thomas as CVC.
