Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (Keltron) is conducting a one-day seminar on Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services (ITES) on Wednesday as part of the launching of its new course Post Graduate Diploma in Software Technologies (PGDST).
The seminar, to be held at the Keltron training centre at Spencer Junction from 10 a.m., is aimed at creating awareness among students on the present and future of IT and ITES.
PGDST is a one-year course aimed at preparing graduates for a career in the IT industry by developing advanced skills in cutting edge technologies such as NET, J2EE database and web technologies. The main objective of PGDST is to create software professionals to develop software based on Capability Maturity Models (CMM) standards. It includes a project work and three months internship at the end of the course to help students get an exposure to industrial standards and obtain valuable work experience.
The eligibility for PGDST course is post-graduation or graduation or three-year diploma. After successful completion of the PGDST programme, eligible graduates will be awarded a PG Diploma in Software Technologies while diploma students will be awarded Advanced Diploma in Software Technologies.
Keltron is also offering a six-month course in Diploma in Information Technologies (DIT). This course covers key office automation packages, data base management, system analysis, software development and web design. Students with the minimum qualification of plus-two or above can enrol for the DIT course.
