Kannur: The Department of Applied Economics of Kannur University is organising a two-day national seminar on `Economic Reforms and Regional Inequality in India' on the campus at Palayad near Thalassery from January 5.

Co-ordinator of the department K. Gangadharan said at press conference here on Tuesday that the seminar would be inaugurated by university Vice-Chancellor P. Chandramohan at 10 a.m.

Despite progress in various fields of development in the post-reform period, its benefits had not percolated to all sections and sectors equally.

The extent of sectoral and regional inequality emerged in the wake of the reforms would be the focus of the seminar in which papers would be presented on related topics, Dr. Gangadharan said.
