A two-day national seminar on ageing began at St. Teresa’s college on Thursday.

P.K.B. Nayar, chairman, Centre for Gerontological Studies, Thiruvananthapuram, spoke on ‘Critical problems facing the old in India today.’ Mr. Nayar said the changing social system, lack of geriatric healthcare facilities and elder abuse are some of the problems faced by the elderly. Sr. Teresa, principal of St. Teresa’s College, also spoke. Shirly Rachel Kurian, head of the Department of Home Science, welcomed the gathering. Thara Sebastian, faculty, proposed a vote of thanks.
