NEDUMBASSERY: A security meeting held at the Cochin International Airport on Monday decided to tighten security measures in the wake of an alert issued by the Central Industrial Security Force Headquarters ahead of Deepavali.

The alert, which is of a general nature, is considered a precaution considering the fact that extremists had hit Delhi last year on the eve of Deepavali, sources informed.

The meeting presided over by Airport Director A.C.K. Nair decided to intensify patrolling in and around the airport and introduce secondary ladder point check.

Barricade check will be introduced at the entry points to check vehicles entering the airport premises.
