K.P. Aravindakshan Memorial Library inaugurated

THRISSUR: Communist Party of India(Marxist) (CPI-M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Sebastian Paul, MP, need not bail out errant journalists in the State.

Mr. Vijayan was referring to Mr. Paul's reported remark that the media currently faced criticism from different quarters because its work was efficacious.

Inaugurating the K.P. Aravindakshan Memorial Library at the Azhikodan Memorial Building here on Wednesday, Mr. Vijayan said historical evidence proved that journalists had received money during the Liberation struggle.

"Mr. Paul need not come to the rescue of journalists, contending that none of them has received money from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Mr. Paul should not speak about things he does not know," Mr. Vijayan said.

In a veiled attack on the Communist Party of India (CPI), the CPI(M) State secretary wondered whether "those who harp on Left unity have forgotten the differences so soon."

"Have they accepted the revolutionary ideals of the CPI(M) that they once disapproved of? Are they ready to admit their follies?"

Chandy criticised

Mr. Vijayan alleged that Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy was blind with hate towards Marxism.

"His stand on the A.K. Balan issue reflects his hate. The Opposition is worried about the increasing public support to the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

The LDF Government practises what it preaches. The Thiruvambadi byelection proved that a majority of the minority communities supported the LDF.

History tells us about countless attempts to destroy Marxism by bending rules. The only thing that has invariably saved Marxism is public support," the CPI(M) leader said.
