KOCHI: The three-day meeting of the South Asian Region of the International Committee for Seafarers Welfare (ICSW) concluded here on Saturday. The meeting marked the finalisation of the $ 2.5 million development programme for the benefit of seafarers in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The ICSW is an umbrella body, based in the U.K., which coordinates seafarer's welfare agencies, unions and employers.

It provides support to organisations working for the welfare of seafarers.

The seminar was inaugurated by M. Jithendran, chairman & managing director of Cochin Shipyard. N. Ramachandran, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, Tom Holmer, Administrative Officer, ITF Seafarers Trust, Suresh Idnani, Trustee, ICSW, were among those who addressed the meeting.
